Standard Operating Hours

The Centre's standard operating hours are:

Monday - Thursday: 8:00am - 5:30pm

Friday: 8:30am - 5:00pm

Closed for Victorian Public Holidays.

It is possible to use The Centre after hours and on weekends, though technical support may not be available for some or all of the period, particularly before the standard operating hours on weekdays. Please direct enquiries to The Coordinator.

Providing after hours support involves rostering staff to fill this role. Therefore it is important that unwanted bookings are canceled (see Failure to Cancel).

Rooms should be open for the scheduled commencement of a booked period. Please contact The Office to have a room unlocked.

Access

See Maps for reference.

The Centre can be approached from the Eastern Entrance or the Main Entrance during the period 6am - 8pm, seven days a week. Swipe card access to the Eastern Entrance is available to staff of the Alfred campus for other times. Proximity Card access at the Northern Entrance is available to staff of the Precinct during the standard operating hours.

Alternatively, access to the Centre is via Emergency, at the western end of the hospital. Visitors attempting to access The Centre before or after hours will be required to check in with the Security office, which is located at the Emergency Department entryway.

Rooms are only accessible during the booked period. Please take this into consideration when making a booking - particularly with regard to setting up and resetting rooms.

When not in use, the Centre is alarmed. Do not attempt to use it as a thoroughfare.

Cancellations

A minimum of 24 hours notice must be provided.

If a booking falls on a weekend or a Monday, it must be canceled during business hours of the previous Thursday or Friday respectively.

Catering

In the case of a private catering firm being used, please ensure that a representative from your group is present to meet and advise catering staff. If catering is to be delivered to a room, this must occur during the booked period - not before its commencement.

Cleanup & Room Reset

Rooms must be restored to their standard configuration after use.

This may involve furniture being moved back to its starting positions, all rubbish and remaining food and beverages being placed in the bins provided, and crockery being returned to the trays it was delivered on. Additional bins are located within The Kitchenette and the Seminar Room. A recycling bin is located in the Foyer, providing for the disposal of glass, aluminium, paper, and plastic drink containers. Please contact The Office if you require assistance with rubbish disposal.

After hours, if a meeting concludes before the scheduled time, please contact The Office.

Emergency

In the case of fire, or any other emergency, the main evacuation point is the courtyard between Commercial Road and the AMREP Centre. This is accessible at all times via the door on the northern wall of the Seminar Room marked "Emergency Exit", or by the northern door at the end of the north-south AMREP Education Centre corridor.

In the event of a hospital administrated emergency which affects The Centre, staff, wearing an orange bib and red hard-hat, will attend as quickly as possible. Please follow their directions.

In case of an urgent medical emergency, dialing "88" at the nearest courtesy telephone (located outside The Seminar Room, or at the junction of the North-South and East-West corridors) places a call to the hospital's emergency response operator. Please explain the nature of the emergency.
