Using a Classroom
Lights
The lights are located on the wall immediately
to the left or right of the entrance. There are panels of fluorescent
lights and spotlights with a dimmer.
Computer
A Desktop computer featuring a DVD player
and USB Ports, running Windows XP Professional and Office 2002 (Version
10), is set into the left side of the cabinet. To switch it on,
press the blue button in the middle of its front panel. USB ports
are visible on the front panel.
Projector
Switch the projector on by pressing
the green button.
Adjust volume with the yellow buttons.
Please switch off after use by pressing the
red button.
Connecting a
Laptop
Turn the PC and projector on. While your laptop
is shut down, connect the plug labeled Laptop emerging from the
left side of the cabinet. (Macs require the user to provide an adapter
cable).
Start up your laptop. The projector should
automatically detect the signal. If there is no response after thirty
seconds, try pressing:
(Windows): Function + F4 or F5 / or refer to this online
guide.
(Apple): System Preferences / Displays / Detect Displays
To play laptop sounds, connect the plug labeled Laptop Audio to
your laptop. Volume control is described above.
VCR
The VCR is located in the cabinet behind the
lectern.
To watch a video, switch on the projector,
insert the cassette and press play. Use the green "On / Source"
button on the wall-controller to select the video's input and project
the image. The word "Computer" will change to "Video".
It may take a few seconds for the signal to successfully change.
Catering
A number of collapsible tables, placed on
racks in the corridor, are useful for placing catering upon. Their
load capacity is approximately 30kg. Please follow the instructions
affixed to the wall to set them up.
Arrangements must be made for catering
equipment to be picked up before the conclusion of all meetings
or 7:30pm.
Air-conditioning
The air-conditioning system is thermostat
controlled. Often, when a large group of people enter the room,
the ambient temperature immediately rises. It takes some time for
the air-conditioning system to stabilise the temperature in the
room.
Room Reset
Classrooms must be restored to their standard
configuration after use. This may involve disposing of all leftover
catering, returning tables to their racks, and organising the chairs
into rows. A chart in the room illustrates the format.
