Getting Started

Switch on the Lectern's touch-screen controls by flipping the switch above the label Start.
Touch the Alfred Logo to view the Main Menu.
To return to the Main Menu from any other screen, press the Back to Source Selection button.

Lights

Press the Lighting Scenes button on the Main Menu.
The four buttons correspond to the four sets of lights in the room.

Computer

A Desktop computer featuring a DVD player and USB Ports, running Windows XP Professional and Office 2002 (Version 10), is set into the left side of the cabinet. To switch it on, press the blue button in the middle of its front panel. USB ports are visible on the front panel.

VCR

The VCR is located within the grey alcove on the southern wall, near the front of the room. Controls are via the lectern's touch screen.

Projector

The projector is switched on by selecting a device on the Source Selection Screen. For instance, to project the signal of the desktop computer select Local Computer. The projector will warm up and detect the signal.
To switch the projector off, hold the Reset button on the Source Selection Screen until the screen returns to the Alfred Hospital logo.

Connecting a Laptop

Turn the Desktop PC and projector on. While your laptop is shut down, connect the plug labeled Laptop emerging from the left side of the cabinet. (Macs require the user to provide an adapter cable).

Start up your laptop. The projector should automatically detect the signal in approximately thirty seconds.

To play laptop sounds, connect the plug labeled Laptop Audio to your laptop. Refer to Master Volume, below, for notes on adjusting the volume.

Microphone

Press the Microphone Volume button.
Press the Mute button to silence or activate the microphone.
Adjust the volume by moving the slider.

Master Volume

The master volume control for Computer / DVD / Video input consists of the twin red bars on either side of the device control screens. Adjust the sliders to the desired level.

Tables

The collapsible tables located on a trolley against the northern wall may be used for any load up to 30kg. Please refer to the instructional chart on the wall before attempting to set up or collapse tables.

Air-conditioning

The air-conditioning system is thermostat controlled. Often, when a large group of people enter the room, the ambient temperature immediately rises. It takes some time for the air-conditioning system to stabilise the temperature in the room.
