Clinical trials are fundamental to the development of new practices, medicines and devices to treat and prevent illness. AMREP has significant capabilities in the conduct of clinical trials.

Nucleus Network 

Nucleus Network, a not-for-profit company owned by Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute, specialises in conducting early phase clinical trials (including first in human) in a modern 41-bed facility at AMREP.

Monash School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine

The Monash School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine (SPHPM) has substantial expertise and experience in the design, conduct and analysis of Phase 2-4 clinical trials. It is the lead centre for ASPREE, Australia’s largest clinical trial.

SPHPM establishes large investigator-initiated trials and co-ordinates industry-funded multicentre studies including:

  • competitive-grant and industry-sponsored trials
  • local and international trials
  • hospital-based and community-based trials
  • pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic studies
  • safety and efficacy studies.

The Australian and New Zealand Intensive Care Research Centre

The Australian and New Zealand Intensive Care Research Centre (ANZIC-RC) is an intensive care clinical research methods centre and is part of the Monash School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine (SPHPM).

The ANZIC-RC assists with the design, funding and conduct of clinical trials. Advice is available from experienced intensive care unit researchers, data management/bio-statistical consultants, project managers, epidemiologists and health economists.

The Centre coordinates and conducts comprehensive research programs including observational studies; feasibility projects; and large multi-centred, interventional, randomised controlled trials. It has the ability to support small, medium and large clinical trials.

The Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists Trials Group

The Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (ANZCA) Trials Group aims to improve the evidence base of anaesthesia, perioperative and pain medicine by supporting multicentre research, and collaborating with other trials groups.

Members of the ANZCA Trials Group are highly skilled in the theory and practice of research methodology and have a record of success in the coordination, conduct and management large, multicentre, randomised, controlled trials.

The ANZCA Trials Group is co-located at Monash SPHPM and the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists.
